A Day at Tranquille

Your Perfect Day Together

You wake up to sunlight filtering through the trees and the sound of water lapping against the dock. The coffee maker is already going. You carry two mugs out to the porch, settle into the rocking chairs, and watch the mist lift off Lake Chatuge as the mountains come into focus.

By midmorning you're in a tandem kayak, paddling through a quiet cove where herons fish along the shoreline. The water is glass-still. After lunch — sandwiches you made in your own kitchen — you drive ten minutes to Crane Creek Vineyards, where you taste local wines on a terrace overlooking the valley.

Back at the cabin, you fire up the grill and cook dinner as the sun begins its slow descent behind the mountains. The sky turns gold, then rose, then deep purple. You eat on the porch, no rush, no reservation. Later, you light a bonfire by the lake or curl up by the wood-burning fireplace. The stars come out. The only sound is the crackle of the fire and each other.

FAQ

Romantic Getaway Questions

What is the best cabin for couples?
The Loft is our most popular couples cabin — a 500 SF studio with a King bed, full kitchen, and an outdoor bed swing with lake views. For a bit more space and a wood-burning fireplace, The Red Cabin (840 SF) is another great choice with cathedral ceilings and a covered porch overlooking the lake.
What romantic things can we do at the resort?
Take a sunset pontoon cruise on Lake Chatuge, paddle tandem kayaks through the cove, stargaze from the dock after dark, have a bonfire under the stars, or simply enjoy coffee together on your private porch at sunrise. Off-site, Crane Creek Vineyards is a 10-minute drive for wine tastings.
Do the cabins have fireplaces?
Yes — The Red Cabin, Blue Cabin, Green Cabin, White Cabin, and The Lodge all have wood-burning fireplaces. Firewood is available for $10 per bundle. The Loft and Lake House do not have fireplaces but offer cozy open-concept living spaces.
Can you arrange anything special for an anniversary or proposal?
While we don't offer formal packages, we're happy to help make your trip special. Let us know in advance and we can coordinate details like having firewood ready, recommending local restaurants for a special dinner, or helping plan the timing of a sunset cruise.
How private are the cabins?
Very private. The resort is almost 3 acres of lakefront property, and each cabin is a standalone structure with its own porch. You won't share walls with anyone. The dock and bonfire areas are shared, but with only 7 cabins total, it never feels crowded.
What is the best time of year for a romantic getaway?
Every season has its charm. Fall (October) brings stunning foliage and bonfire weather. Winter is cozy with fireplaces and fewer crowds. Spring has wildflowers and mild weather. Summer is perfect for lake days and sunset cruises. Midweek stays are the most peaceful year-round.
